National Educational Technology Standards

I can use three of the International Society for Technology in Education and National Educational Technology Standards and apply them to the production software we learned in class. The first standard is under the category of Facilitating and Inspiring Student Learning and Creativity. Under section C, which is to promote student reflection using collaborative tools to reveal and clarify students’ conceptual understanding and thinking, planning, and creative processes. This standard wants teachers to use some type of tool, in order to reveal and track students’ progress and understanding. I would use Microsoft Excel to meet the needs of this standard. By using excel, I was able to create grade sheets and graphs. This software allows me to reflect on students’ progress and growth. I can show my students’ conceptual understanding, thinking, planning and creative processes by using the excel spreadsheets.

The second standard is under the category of Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments. Under section A, to design or adapt relevant learning experiences that incorporate digital tools and resources to promote student learning and creativity. In my opinion, this standard wants to use technology to increase student learning and to stimulate students’ minds by being creative. If the technology you use is creative, it will increase students’ awareness and involvement in the subject. I’m able to use Microsoft Power Point to support this standard. You can incorporate relevant subjects into Power Point and make it interesting to view. By adding bright colors and dark backgrounds, using pictures in the place of words, and even using videos will promote students will to learn.

The last standard is again under the category of Design and Develop Digital-Age Learning Experiences and Assessments. Under section B, which is used to develop technology-enriched learning environments that enable all students to peruse their individual curiosities and become active participants I setting their own educational goals, managing their own learning, and assessing their own progress. This standard wants teachers to be able to use a type of technology that allows students to participate in the classroom. Students’ should be able to make a list of what their goals are and what they’re learning, they should be able to monitor their progress. This standard can be meet by using a Microsoft Word. Microsoft can help create templates for students to track their grades. After each test, students’ can record their scores on a grid. At the end of each day, students’ can recap on everything they learned. Lastly, at the start of the school year each student can set goals for what they hope to achieve by the end of the quarter. By using Microsoft, you can give each student templates for the goals above. You can make them a grid to graph their test scores, and you can print them out a goals
